Ever feel like you’re on the outside looking in? I get that feeling when I look at a well crafted painting. It’s like I could fall in if l lean too far forward. I remember seeing an episode of Night Gallery when I was a kid which dealt with this concept in a very graphic way… that’s not what I mean here.
No. Actually, I’ve been doing some inspiration referencing for a new story character, but I got sidetracked. Which, is a little like rummaging through an old attic for just the right hat to set the tone, and finding a great pair of shoes with a far more intriguing storyline. Do I stay, or do I go down this new rabbit hole? Well, this time I indulged myself, and broke away from the original mission. I knew I’d get to that hat sometime, but for now, these shoes need my attention.
Hence, The Ginger.
This is the portrait that needed to be painted. And it makes me feel like I could fall in if I lean too far forward. There’s definitely a story here, and I swear I’m going to fall in and find it some day. But for now, I’ve got to get back to that hat.
I can’t always take the side trip, but I’m usually glad that I did.
